At Artisan Wines we are committed to sourcing hand-crafted wines, direct from small passionate and high quality producers. We want to make it easy for you to enjoy distinctive, hand-picked wines many of which are not normally available here.
We have an approach that seeks out honest wine from growers who work with passion, individuality and zest. This may be contrasted with many of the mass-produced wines retailed in the UK today. The approach and quality indicators we seek out include the following:
- a natural approach to viticulture using low interventionist methods.Many Artisan producers use organic or biodynamic methods, promoting an active eco-system;
- low yields from old vines. This produces more concentrated grapes, for wines with greater flavour and distinction!
- hand harvesting. Picking by hand ensures that only the ripest fruits are chosen, arriving in top condition in the winery;
- non-interventionist winemaking. Minimising the use of chemicals and additives in the winery all results in a more natural product for you to enjoy.
All the wines we supply are very competively priced. We search for wines in the £6 to £10 range per bottle, as we believe they offer you the best value for money. Last year Joanna Simon of the Sunday Times estimated that in a £4 bottle the wine usually cost around 60p (with fixed costs like duty accounting for much of the rest). Pay £6 a bottle and the value of the wine is likely to be 3 times more!
To make things even simpler we put together keenly-priced mixed-cases of 12 bottles. Each case includes tasting notes to help you enjoy the wine, to serve it with the right food and to generally help you to get to know our wine growers and what makes them all just that bit special.
We really hope you enjoy our wines! |
